AC Milan cannot be counted out of the Thiago Motta sweepstakes just yet as a journalist has claimed that the club are ‘working under the radar’.

According to the latest update from Antonio Vitiello for MilanNews, Antonio Conte has had ‘no direct and official contact with Milan’ and he is ‘unlikely to be Milan’s next manager’ as things stand at the moment, despite the pressure from some fans.

Meanwhile, Motta has ‘had a verbal agreement with Juve for some time’ but as long as it remains verbal and not written anything can still happen, as Milan have learned when it comes to transfers.

The next few days are crucial in deciding what Motta’s fate will be. Bologna would like to keep him for their maiden Champions League campaign and renew his deal, so they will have a meeting with the former midfielder.

Juve seem ready to replace Max Allegri with the former PSG and Inter man, but Milan are there ‘working under the radar and with the lights off’ on the idea.

Milan’s process to find Stefano Pioli’s heir is ongoing but it must be said that Motta ticks a lot of boxes on paper, given that he knows the league and has a track record for developing young players.
